The purpose of the flight review required by FAR 61.56 is to provide for a regular evaluation of pilot skills and aeronautical knowledge. The flight review is also intended to offer pilots the opportunity to design a personal currency and proficiency program in consultation with a certificated flight instructor (CFI).

To gain a better understanding of a pilot’s skill level, experience, aircraft flown, and personal flying goals, please complete the pilot information document before scheduling a flight review.

All pilots are encouraged to complete the Flight Review Prep Guide course on the FAA Safety Team’s web site and print the course completion certificate prior to the flight review. The course is free and only requires that you create an account.

The FAA Safety Team’s WINGS program allows pilots to bypass a traditional flight review by completing a “phase” of the WINGS program.
